MAS ROSICH is a typical Catalan farmhouse, over 200 years old , converted into a restaurant in 1985 and more recently into 2 lovely rural apartments that are perfect for experiencing a country villa, family holiday in Tarragona, Spain.
The farmhouse is situated on the outskirts of the ancient village of Alcover with fabulous views over the countryside which can be enjoyed from the gardens and terraces during the day or on those warm summer evenings.
The village is only 20 mins. from the coast yet in the heart of the countryside at the foot of the Prades mountains where you and your family will be able to experience a typical Catalonian, bargain, family holiday.The area is renowned for its wine, cava (champagne), hazelnuts, almonds and olives. The village itself dates back to 1166 and boasts the ruins of a Roman church, fortified walls, Renaissance style houses, a museum and is also justifiably proud of its local beauty spots such as the Hermita del Remei (18th century chapel) and stunning waterfalls at the Font de la Glorieta. All of this will enrich your Spanish, rural country holiday experience.
The Cistercian Monastery route passes by the village – 3 glorious, inhabited, Cistercian Monasteries at Poblet (15 mins.), Santes Creus (20 mins.) and Vallbona de les Monges only ½ hour from the restaurant. Valls, the capital of the Alt Camp area and king of the Calçotada (the famous roasted onion/leek dish) is only 5 mins. drive away.
There are a variety of local restaurants in the village, serving menu of the day or full a la carte. There are bars and terraces, a disco (La Piscina) open at week-ends and our own late-night terrace bar (Els Angle-
sus) is open downstairs on Friday and Saturday nights. Children are welcome in all places enabling you all to enjoy a typical, Spanish bargain family holiday together.
The village also has several banks, a public swimming pool open from June to September, a railway station connecting directly with Reus, Tarragona and Barcelona, super-markets and various other shops.
THE ACCOMODATION
1ST FLOOR APARTMENT – On the first level there is a 3 bedroom/ 2 bathroom apartment with small terrace and entrance area and seperate kitchen dining area. There is a small private terrace to the rear and a shared one to the front.
The bedrooms are all twin or double, 1 is en-suite with a shower and toilet and the other 2 bedrooms share a bathroom/toilet with a shower/bath. There are 2 adjoining entrance doors, one leading to the bedrooms and the other directly into the kitchen/dining area. All bedrooms have a small TV.
There is a fully fitted kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and a pleasant dining/sitting area. Outside there is a utility area with washing machine.
This apartment can also be rented by the room for shorter stays or combined with the upstairs apartment to sleep a total of 10 + in total offering a chance for 2 families to holiday together yet maintaining individual family holiday privacy.
2ND FLOOR APARTMENT (available July 2009) – This is the restaurant conversion at the top of the original farmhouse now consisting of an entrance directly into the kitchen/ dining room, with a lounge and 2 large double bedrooms, there are 2 showers/ toilets on the lower level.
This very tastfully converted top floor of the original farmhouse sleeps 4/ 6 people in a 2 bedroomed apartment with a double sofa bed in the living area. The apartment is an ideal country house location for a bargain Catalonian country, family holiday.
The apartment was originally the dining room of the restaurant and maintains all it’s original features including the wooden beams, old brick arches and fireplace and polished wood floors.
The entrance is through the original, newly converted restaurnat kitchen and dining room, the fully fitted kitchen contains electric oven with a gas hob and microwave cooking facilities. There is a fridge/ freezer and ample storage space. The dining area is large and comfortable and the French window door and other windows provide plenty of light and atmosphere into this lovely room. The kitchen leads down 3 steps to the old restaurant and living room of the apartment, with original fireplace feature with a working fireplace with built in fire for family, country holiday, winter lets. There is a lovely arched split living area leading to 2 very spacious double and twin bedrooms with built-in wardrobes and private sitting area with a small TV/DVD and music system.
Stairs lead down to the bathrooms ( 2 shower rooms and toilets) and what will eventually be a private terrace for the apartment, at present this apartment shares the front terrace with the first floor apartment, with spectacular views over the ruined convent and local countryside.
There is a utility room with washing machine area.

Please note that Mas Rosich is reached by a driveway that can be used to drop-off luggage but the parking area is at road level. To reach either of the apartments there is a staircase up to the entrance area and several stairs in the interior of the top apartment and therefore is not very suitable for elderly or disabled guests.
The pub is open on Friday and Saturday night and there may be some noise from the terrace during the summer months, the only bedroom that this can be heard from is the front twin bedroom of the first floor apartment (with the windows open). Or of course if you are out on the front terrace after midnight.
